King Charles III will give a speech this Thursday on the occasion of the Easter weekend. Some long-awaited words by his subjects, who are very concerned about both the king’s health and that of the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton; both in treatment after confessing to having been diagnosed with cancer.

This message will be a pre-recorded audio, which will be broadcast this Thursday during the religious service offered at Worcester Cathedral, as reported by the Palace, which has also released some excerpts from it that show that the monarch gives priority to concepts such as friendship, “especially in difficult times.”

“We need each other a lot and we get a lot of good from those who extend the hand of friendship to us, especially in difficult times,” says the monarch, who will not be present while this message is spread.

Some words that undoubtedly take on a special meaning after the complicated weeks that the family has experienced on a personal level, after the announcement that the monarch was suffering from cancer; but especially after her daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, revealed in first person that she was also undergoing chemotherapy treatment after being diagnosed with an unspecified cancer.

The absence of both members of the British royal family will undoubtedly be very notable at the religious service on Maundy Thursday, one of the most traditional events in the Palace’s official calendar of events and which marks the beginning of the end of Easter week. Queen Camilla, wife of Charles III, will once again serve as the king’s representative.

The monarch will attend the traditional Easter mass at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, along with other members of the royal family; which will be held next Sunday morning. Prince William will not attend that day, and will withdraw from his official events to stay with his wife and his children.

Since Charles III’s diagnosis was announced last February, just after his prostate enlargement operation, the monarch canceled all his official commitments. The king began his treatment, but decided to continue with some of his duties from his home, Clarence House, such as his weekly meetings with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak.

Until now, his wife, Queen Camilla; and his son, Prince William, are the ones who carry out most official acts as their representatives.
