The mayor of Banyoles, Miquel Noguer, will once again preside over the Diputación de Girona, a body that will jointly govern Junts and ERC that will reissue the pact that already existed in the last mandate.

With all the municipalities constituted -the last one was that of Olot last Friday-, the two formations have today made public more details about the pact that they announced on June 7 to jointly govern the supra-municipal entity for the next four years.

There will be no changes regarding the main charges. The until now president of the Diputación and re-elected for the fourth consecutive time as mayor of Banyoles with an absolute majority, Miquel Noguer (Junts), will once again occupy the presidency.

A position that he had held since 2018, when the then president, Pere Vila, left the presidency to be a delegate of the Generalitat in Girona. Noguer had been vice president of the corporation between 2011 and 2018.

As president, he will direct the Tourist Board and the Consorci d’Aigües Girona Costa Brava. The person who will also renew the position is the until now first vice president and new mayor of Cassà de la Selva, Pau Presas (ERC).

The agreement between both formations provides, as happened in the past term, that two vice-presidencies are for Junts and another two for ERC. There will be four informative commissions chaired very similar to the current ones.

The Finance, Administration, Economic Promotion and Local Cooperation commission will be chaired by Pau Presas. ERC will also take care of Social Action and Public Health, with education and youth. For its part, Junts will be in charge of Culture, New Technologies and Sports as well as Territory and Sustainability.

As for the two autonomous bodies dependent on the Provincial Council, the two parties have also opted for continuity. Thus, Junts will continue to lead Xaloc, the Xarxa Local de Municipis that, among other things, deals with tax collection while ERC will continue to be in charge of Dipsalut, the public health organization that deals with quality control of water from municipal swimming pools.

The distribution of the folder will be similar to that of this past term and will be specified in a plenary session to be held at the end of this month of July. The new plenary will be made up of ten Junts deputies; eight from ERC, five from the PSC; two from the CUP, one from Tots per l’Empordà and another from Independents de la Selva.
