Spain is facing heat waves and dangerous temperatures this summer that can knock us out if we don’t take care of all the details. One of the most important factors to cope with heart attack thermometers is food, so we must take care of what we eat to spend a summer without suffering.
In recent years, information on specialized diets and healthy eating has multiplied thanks to the Internet, so there are many proposals that can help us maintain good hydration, freshness, and health in the face of a summer as hot as the one we are facing.
The first thing to keep in mind is that the World Health Organization (WHO) recommends drinking between 2 and 2.5 liters a day. In the same way, he advises eating foods that help us feel fresher and lighter, avoiding difficult digestions, a feeling of heaviness and fluid retention, among other problems that are linked to heat.
We have to put the red alert for food during the heat wave on fats, since they are difficult to digest and during the process our temperature rises, something that also happens with red meat that is normally associated with barbecues so typical in these dates.
For their part, salt and sugar should also be avoided: the first because it makes us feel heavier and increases fluid retention and the second because of the digestion and dehydration problems it generates. Along with them, you have to avoid carbonated drinks that can dehydrate us even more.
As important as the foods that must be avoided are those that we must look for to face high temperatures. Here we must clearly look for the freshest fruits and vegetables and, fortunately, in Spain they are very varied and abundant, as well as cheap in most cases.
Melon and watermelon are the kings of our desserts and even main dishes: both have few calories, are very fresh and we can eat them both in desserts and in salads and cold soups that will quickly hydrate us thanks to their 90% water content, making it which makes them an indispensable option these days.
But if we are talking about an undisputed king of summer, this should be the cucumber. With 96% water in its composition, it is used for gazpachos, salads, creams and all kinds of dishes that will also provide us with vitamin C, fiber, iron and essential amino acids for our skin and digestion.
In his company we can have the classic lettuce and tomato, two really hydrating options and with vitamins to replace the harshness to which the infernal heat of these dates subjects us. We must also assess its ability to improve our intestinal transit, which usually has imbalances with high temperatures.
Nor should we miss the opportunity to eat strawberries, one of the fruits with the most water inside (more than 90%) and which have a magnificent capacity to improve circulation in our body, a trick to keep in mind if we want to maintain our body well chilled and fresh.
Although these tips may be useful to you, if you really want to become an expert in food and nutrition to advise people, training is the best option to move onto a professional path with a bright future and one that is gaining more and more followers.
