The Junts candidate, Míriam Nogueras, believes that her formation will be “determining” in the next legislature and assures that if governance depends on her party, nothing will ever be the same in Madrid.

They say that if governance depends on you, nothing will ever be the same.

In recent decades, the attempt of political Catalanism to change a systematic situation of detriment and marginalization of Catalonia in the economic, social and cultural scenario has already been seen in Madrid. Therefore, we will not do anything that has been done so far.

explain yourself

We will make the votes of the Catalans count and a lot. And when we say that nothing will be the same, we also say it so that in Catalonia nothing will be the same. It is essential to take a leap forward and get out of that spiral in which we have been trapped for too many years with decades of involution, lack of progress, investment, growth…

Will they negotiate differently?

We are very clear that it is charged in advance. If not, it’s impossible. We have verified that there can be no confidence in the promises or agreements that are closed with the Government, whoever governs, PP or PSOE, governs. The result 100% of the time is non-compliance.

What is your solution?

What we are fighting for and the raison d’être of our party is to exercise independence. And to be able to manage all the resources that there are in Catalonia, to stop paying like a first-rate country and end up living in a second-rate country.

While they don’t get it, can other issues be negotiated?

When you go to negotiate the first premise is to be clear about what you want. We are very clear about what we want and it gives us the feeling that we are the only ones. We have shown that we negotiate with a very clear understanding of what we want. There is an absolute consensus in Catalonia in terms of grievance. We do not denounce underfunding only from Junts, but it is true that we are the only speaker of the grievance and the demands of the Catalan employers’ associations and the Catalan unions.

What red lines or minimums will they set to negotiate?

None of those who are running for president of the government have given us a single reason to vote for them. The votes of the citizens of Catalonia of those parties that have shaken hands with the Spanish Government have been useless. Promises have not been kept. Therefore, that they explain what their proposal for Catalonia is and why we should give them the vote of the Catalans.

We go back to before.

We have a proposal to put an end to that, but… What is the proposal of those who also complain and say that we have to continue as before?

They believe that they will be decisive. If it depends on you that there is an alternative government to PP and Vox, will you withstand the pressure?

We are used to enduring pressure and criticism… I can assure you that the right will not have our votes. From here, those who want to be candidates… But if a PP president is put to the vote, obviously we will vote no.

Is it better to charge in advance in a negotiation or the institutional blockade to demonstrate the conflict proposed by some voices in your space?

The one who blocks our country is the one who does not pay, the one who fails to comply. Therefore, the Spanish government of the day. They don’t vote for us to inaugurate Spanish presidents, they vote for us to look after the interests of the Catalans, and today the governments turn their backs on us because they don’t pay, they don’t respect our culture and our language.

If there is a debate on the reform of the regional financing model, will they participate?

If someone has a proposal, present it and we will see it. We are very clear about what we stand for: independence. One of the reasons why we defend it is the economic issue, fiscal plunder. But we can also talk about cultural, patrimonial and infrastructure looting.

In the municipal ones they obtained better results in places like Barcelona, ??Igualada, Tortosa, Figueres, Banyoles, Martorell… where they combined the pragmatic sense with the demand for sovereignty. Do they do that reading?

We have to be very careful, because each municipality is different and it is a more personal matter than acronyms. That theory does not represent me. The reading that we have done is that we are there, that four days ago our political space was considered dead and we are the political party with the most mayoralties in Catalonia.

They had good results, but they have been left out of the councils of Barcelona, ??Lleida and Tarragona. Has there been mismanagement of the pacts?

In no case. We bet on independence pacts in the four councils and hope that sooner or later it ends up happening. An alternative majority is possible although the PSC has the right card for when they don’t like the pitch. We aspire to govern, but not at any price. The chairs, being public servants, cannot be taken at any price.

On July 23, two brands of the post-convergent space are presented separately. The former president Artur Mas and Xavier Trias said it was a mistake.

They also said they will vote for Junts.

It is so. But what do you think?

I am very proud of the work Junts has done. The party was established three years ago, although some insist on giving us nicknames, we call ourselves Junts and we aspire to be transversal and representative of the majority.
