The head of the PDeCAT-Espai CiU list at the Congress for Barcelona, ??Roger Montañola, yesterday accused JxCat of “self-marginalizing” by not agreeing with the PSC to govern in the Diputación de Barcelona.

Montañola thus left the step of the pact that the PSC, the leading force in the Provincial Council, has concluded with Tot per Terrassa (TxT), which joins the agreement with the communes and ensures a socialist government presided over by the mayoress of Sant Boi de Llobregat, Luisa Moret.

In addition, the Socialists do not rule out receiving the support of the two independent Junts deputies, the mayor of Igualada, Marc Castells, and the mayor of Torrelles de Foix and leader of Impulsem Penedès, Sergi Vallès.

One of the options that was on the table after the municipal elections in May was the reissue of the government pact between PSC and JxCat in the Barcelona Provincial Council, but after the election of Jaume Collboni as mayor of the Catalan capital to the detriment of Xavier Trias , which had been the most voted, Junts closed the door to an agreement with the Socialists in the provincial body.

“JxCat marginalizes itself when it comes to being able to do politics and agree with someone,” Montañola said, and assured that “if the will to do politics” had reigned in Junts, the situation would not be the current one. Thus, she has defended that, “today, voting for Junts is voting to condemn the opposition.”

Faced with calls for coordination between the Catalan forces in Madrid, Montañola has opened up to making a “common front” to defend “realistic proposals” that seek to “guarantee and improve the lives of the citizens of Catalonia.”

Regarding Sumar’s proposal to establish a universal inheritance of 20,000 euros, which would become effective when he turned 23, the candidate of the Partit Demòcrata has rejected it and has accused Yolanda Díaz’s men of “misleading the people”, since they he wants to “make it look like resources are infinite”, when in reality “they are not”.

In labor matters, he has valued the work done by the PDeCAT during the last legislature, acting as an “entrance” for the employers’ association and the Catalan unions in Congress, and has claimed his candidacy as the one that represents “the interests of the economy Catalan”.
