The concept of the diss track has expanded beyond its exclusive meaning in the musical world. Usually, these songs were released as direct criticism of another artist with whom they had a problem, perhaps even hoping for a surprise. One of the clearest examples of recent years is that of Machine Gun Kelly, who sent a song of this nature to Eminem and received a strong response.
Nowadays, and particularly in the Spanish-speaking environment, this concept has been used to put exes back and forth. Shakira became the pioneer of this new wave thanks to her collaboration with Bizarrap, which started a series of incendiary songs against Gerard Piqué. Now, however, it is the Sevillian Álvaro de Luna who is filling the platforms and social networks with the themes of him against Laura Escanes.
“I hadn’t explained it, but these last songs are part of an EP. They are three songs that highlight three moments that everyone goes through after leaving someone,” explained the singer at the Dial de Tenerife Awards after publishing Suerte ;), Desconocidos and F.G.L.C. (A little while). The artist had already been hinting at his former partner for several months through social networks.
“And here I thought it was the right one. I’m not here for you or for your hints. With sunglasses, fleeing from the press. “I’m doing my thing, I’m not into that shit,” said one of the lyrics of this triplet. Escanes, without hiding, responded using verses from Karma, by Taylor Swift: “Because karma is my boyfriend, karma is a god, karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend. Karma is a relaxing thought. Don’t you be envious that it isn’t for you?
The last piece in this collection, F.G.L.C. (A Ratitos), is also full of critical messages: “Not missing you makes me feel good”, “I have written another song for you, it’s always the same”, “Where I don’t remember to remember you. Where I don’t hear your voice” , “The things to forgive. And eat us during the day. The afternoons on the couch. Your mouth next to mine”, “I lost myself so as not to lose you. I have lost my voice from singing to you so much” or “It didn’t make me “good to know you.”
The influencer, who recently presented La travessa on 3Cat, also responded to her followers about the type of tattoos that one could regret: “There are many, but there is one that I am clear that I want to erase. I say it openly, do not tattoo your names. The name or signature, in my case, is not necessary. I have other tattoos from other couples that I don’t plan on erasing because they are things that I have experienced, but it’s just that the signature…”
