The Community of Madrid has once again activated Alert 2 or High Risk due to heat due to the forecast of maximum temperatures for Monday, the 17th, above 40 degrees Celsius.

After several days in which temperatures have dropped, on Monday maximum temperatures of 40.4ºC will be registered again, according to the Information Bulletin of heat waves of the Community of Madrid based on information from the State Meteorological Agency through the Barajas, Cuatro Vientos, Getafe and Retiro observatories.

Facing the weekend, however, the thermometers will mark lower temperatures. Thus, on Friday the Aemet forecast points to 36.6ºC, on Saturday, to 33.2ºC and on Sunday, to 34.8ºC.

This action is part of the System of Surveillance and Control of the Effects of Heat Waves of the Ministry of Health, which this year is part of the Action Plan for Episodes of High Temperatures 2023 of the regional government, approved last April .

The plan will be operational until September 15 with the aim of minimizing the consequences of high temperatures on the most vulnerable population such as the elderly, babies, children and the chronically ill.

The Plan has various channels to send information to health professionals, social services and the general population on the level of risk during the summer period.

It is made up of a Technical Coordination Commission, chaired by Public Health, in which technicians from the Community of Madrid from the health and social services, Civil Protection, Sports and other institutions such as the City Council of the capital participate.
