Two people of Albanian nationality have been arrested in the framework of a Police operation in Lleida in which 5,235 marijuana plants have also been seized in two luxury chalets. The two buildings were connected by the garden and each had four plantations inside.
Apart from the plants, the police agents have also seized four kilos of dried and packaged marijuana. In addition, food equipment such as 223 600-watt lamps, 224 electrical transformers, 13 air conditioners and 83 fans have been seized.
The investigations began in June 2023, when the police received information warning of possible criminal offenses inside the chalets. After this information, a first inspection of the buildings allowed us to observe a manipulated electrical wiring and much thicker than usual. In addition, unlike what usually happens in this type of plantation, the cables were buried, which made their location more difficult.
Several more details led the investigators to ask the court for an entry order to the two chalets, both due to the possibility that a crime against public health was being committed due to drug trafficking, and electricity fraud.
The police calculate that the entire electrical infrastructure has meant an expense to the organization of more than 100,000 euros, added to the expenses originated by the same plantation and electrical fraud. Finally, the police indicate that they do not rule out new arrests.
