The Civil Guard is investigating two people related to the 32 dogs found in very poor condition in a farmhouse in Cogollos Vega (Granada) who are accused of a crime against animals and another of professional intrusion for cutting off their tails and ears for aesthetic purposes.
On July 4, a patrol located the rehala and found 32 greyhounds in absolutely deplorable conditions, they were cachexic, extremely thin, dehydrated, covered in fleas and ticks. As reported by the Civil Guard, the Nature Protection Service (Seprona) is investigating two people aged 34 and 21 for an alleged crime against animals due to the terrible state in which they were.
Seprona agents have also investigated them for professional intrusion, since many of the dogs had their tails and ears cut off for aesthetic purposes not justified by any veterinarian.
The police officers confiscated all the dogs and took steps with different animal protection associations, until they found support from the Galgos del Sur de Córdoba animal protection association, which took charge of the animals. This organization has also announced that it will be presented as a private prosecution in the trial.
The veterinarian of said association certified the loss of body weight, muscle mass and weakness of the dogs; who were dehydrated, malnourished, listless, anemic, and had scars from old and recent injuries.
Galgos del sur initially took care of the dogs in their recovery process by offering veterinary care. As they recover, the dogs will be distributed to the centers and shelters of the different protectors that collaborated in the rescue.
