One hundred and seventy riders divided into 18 national and four international teams have registered to participate in the Under-23 Cycling Tour of the Community of Madrid, which will start on Tuesday of next week, the 18th, in the town of Chinchón and will run for five days several municipalities of the Community of Madrid.
This is how the Madrid Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports, Mariano de Paco, advanced this Tuesday during the presentation of the race, which will be sponsored by the Community of Madrid and will run in stages through the municipalities of Chinchón, Alcalá de Henares , Buitrago del Lozoya, Parla and San Lorenzo de El Escorial.
De Paco stressed that it is a competition that “combines common interests for all, such as sports and tourism, thereby helping to boost the economy of the towns through which it runs.”
Likewise, the counselor recalled that cycling is one of the favorite activities of the people of Madrid, and that the region has 178 clubs and more than 4,000 federative licenses for this discipline, which represents an increase of 3.5% compared to the previous season.
In its 35th edition, the Madrid round will begin on Tuesday 18 in Chinchón, will have stages in Alcalá de Henares (Wednesday 19), Buitrago de Lozoya (Thursday 20) and Parla (Friday 21), and will end again in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, on Saturday the 22nd.
As for the participating teams, there are 18 national teams and four foreigners, the Monaco team, the Italian Rostese, the American Team California and the French Vendée, all of them debutants in the Madrid event.
As for the Spanish squads, 14 of them already participated in the last edition: Laboral Kutxa, Rías Baixas, Bicicletas Rodríguez, Valverde Team, Caja Rural, Cortizo, Eolo Kometa, Zamora Enamora, Froiz, Telcom, El Bicho-Pizzería Española, Baqué, MP Group and the mixed Avimosa/Triporter team.
The other four national teams are rookies, Brocar Alé Alicante, Finisher, High Level-Gsport and the Spanish junior team.
The organization of the Tour of Madrid thanks the teams for their interest in attending the Madrid round and regrets that six teams could not be confirmed as it was not possible to increase participation.
