At the central meeting, in the launch of the PDECat-Espai Ciu candidacy, in an emblematic and modernist place in Sant Cugat del Vallès, the formation has promised that the vote for its space will be “the most useful” on the 23rd of July in the general elections. “We will enter Congress and it will be the most useful vote of your lives, they will respect Catalonia and they will go through the cash register,” assured their candidate, Roger Montañola, who lamented that Catalonia “by doing the process” has “transformed” into a country of ” cupaires and communists”.

“I thought that the legitimate idea of ??the process was to create a State, not to turn all of us into communists. And we are not, we are liberals, we believe in the productive economy, in business, in deregulation and in lowering taxes once and for all “, exclaimed Montañola, who also lamented that the convergent space, over these years, has tried to “get liked by people who are in the antipodes of the country that President Pujol built”, whom they have pointed out as a reference several times today and during these campaign days. “For too many years some people, for some reason that I don’t quite understand, have the habit of wanting to like the CUP. The CUP are our adversaries, they will always find us face to face, their recipes have expired,” the leader insisted. postconvergent.

“Without order there is no civilization or freedom. And in Catalonia we have been following the CUP for too many years,” said the former representative of Convergència i Unió, now head of the PDECat-Espai CiU poster, who has insisted on this aspect in his speech . “The CUP with few deputies has entered the collective mentality of Catalonia and has made us ashamed of who we are, convergents of a lifetime”, he concluded.

In the meeting, in which the candidate for the Senate, Lorena Iglesias, the deputy Genís Boadella, secretary of organization of the PDECat, and the former mayor of Vilafranca del Penedès, Pere Regull, who closes the list, have also claimed the presidency of Jordi Pujol and the trajectory of Convergència are clear and uncomplicated. In addition, the convergent economic and social model advocated by Montañola has been contrasted with that of the left. “Enough of leading the country to decadence, of leading the country to the never-ending story, enough of criticizing those who make an effort,” said the candidate.

In the section on darts to other formations, Montañola has also pointed to Junts per Catalunya and his former Unió party partner, Antoni Castellà, who leads the candidacy of Jordi Turull’s men for the Senate as an independent. “There is no more useless vote than the one that goes to those who say they do not want to do politics,” said the leader. “My dear Antoni Castellà, with whom I have a good friendship, says that they are going to block everything,” he continued. “For that we don’t pay your salary, Castellà, we make a collection and we pay you a megaphone or a microphone,” the Espai CiU candidate snapped, pointing out that this Friday he was “amused” listening to the number one from JxCat for Congress, Míriam Nogueras, “tried to be convergent” with “stressed seams”.

Pulling on that thread, Montañola has considered that “politics is too serious to resign.” “You have to do politics and defend Catalonia, the country and the nation. But it has to be done from who we are. Our aspiration has to be in less than 20 years to return to being the locomotive of southern Europe”, has been marked as target. “We only need one thing, to get rid of the incompetence of the institutions. On Tuesday we will go to the debate and we will beat them all, as we already did,” promised the euphoric candidate, who pointed out that from Sant Cugat del Vallès they will arrive at the Palau de the Generalitat amid applause from those present.

Another of the messages that the formation has wanted to launch has been referring to those who “swim and keep their clothes”, and, according to what they say, they assure them in private that they will vote for them but they do not say it in public because they have positions in some public administrations such as the “Can Colló de la Roca regional council”.

The choice of Sant Cugat del Vallès is not trivial. Now it is one of the few strongholds of municipal power in Junts per Catalunya, together with Igualada. But in 2003, at the time of the first tripartite, CiU was left with the mayor’s office of that Vallesan city as the main municipal fort, at the beginning of the stage that was later known as the crossing through the desert. After two terms in the opposition, the convergents returned to power with Artur Mas in his third assault on the Generalitat, at the end of 2010.

Boadella has vindicated the convergent root of the candidacy without holding back at the same time that he has shown his chest for the management of the four PDECat deputies in the previous legislature. However, he has warned that it is not a project for nostalgics, but for the future. Along the same lines, Iglesias has stressed that it is a “candidacy that represents a step forward.” “We do not want to resign ourselves or remain anchored in the past,” he remarked.

“We come from a tree that many people dedicated themselves to shaking and mowing,” Boadella pointed out. “We come from an oak called Convergència i Unió and some have tried to cut down the branches, and even the roots. They have not succeeded and they will not succeed, we convergents stand up proudly and without complexes”, continued the number two of Espai CiU .

At the meeting are several PDECat leaders and well-known faces from other formations that emerged on the Catalan political table after the closure of Convergèncias, such as Carles Toda, Remei Gómez, Lluís Font, Laia Flotats or David Bonvehí.
