The Badalona Futur Soccer Club, which brought together CF Badalona and Costa Brava to play in the 2nd Federation category, has gone on sale for one euro, after both clubs broke relations and the merger did not materialize. President Miguel Àngel Sánchez announced his resignation, as well as that of the council he chairs.
By resigning, according to a statement made public by the club, he also did so by plunging the debts of CF Badalona Futur SAD, for which the entity’s shareholders have decided to sell the club immediately at a symbolic price of one euro.
The price relieves the members of the club’s board of directors of patrimonial responsibilities. This will require the buyer to make immediate payment or sufficient guarantee of existing debts, to which the board of directors has not agreed “despite having committed” the same statement said.
The public writing details that the president, Mr. Miguel Ángel Sánchez, during this season has increased the debt that the former club UE Costa Brava had from 350,000 to 600,000 euros and “in addition to breaking his word” is now leaving CF Badalona Futur SAD “in danger of disappearing”.
From the club they understand that this circumstance has occurred with “obvious bad faith” 48 days after formalizing the registration of the 2nd RFEF team in order to start the season 23/24, for which reason the members of the Board of Directors are forced to ” find an imminent solution to save the category and preserve the club”.
The case of the absorption between CF Badalona and the old Costa Brava, once the season is over and the definitive merger has not been reached, will end up in court, once both parties have decided to break off the negotiations.
The new owner must determine what happens with the use of the stadium, the name and the image of the club. On the other hand, the president announced at a press conference that the first team will be in the 3rd category with the current squad.
