“There is a huge debate about who the true owners of a company are, if only the shareholders or, on the contrary, all the other interest groups also have a lot of weight…”, explains the business school professor. Pablo Foncillas assures that it is possible to know if the councils refer to the former or the latter when making their decisions.
Almost half of those surveyed in an investigation carried out by the teacher in general management perceive that equal attention is not paid to these different profiles. And “despite the fact that love grows” towards interest groups, directors “want more” from shareholders.
In short, “the inclusion of interest groups is not applied uniformly in the councils”, and understanding it “has a strong impact” on the decisions they make.
