In a few days it will be two months since the spectacular equestrian accident that left the Sevillian goalkeeper Sergio Rico in a coma and fearing the worst for his life at the El Rocío pilgrimage. A dramatic event that put his entire family in check; especially to his wife, Alba Silva, who throughout this time has not left his side and has known how to keep up with the press, acting as a spokesperson and recounting the few news about the health status of the Paris goalkeeper Saint Germain.

However, everyone has been able to see how the journalist’s attitude has changed in recent days. It is not for less, because the news that arrives about the recovery of her husband is very hopeful and positive. The goalkeeper woke up from a coma, can communicate and, according to Silva, he would already be very close to being discharged and being able to leave the Virgen del Rocío hospital in Seville, where he has been hospitalized all this time.

A recovery that the athlete is experiencing “by leaps and bounds”, already on the floor since he left the intensive care unit a few days ago after being there closely monitored by specialists; and with his wife by his side.

Silva has not stopped sending messages of gratitude from her Instagram profile to all those who have worried about her husband’s health or her own; but she has also used that platform to tell news about her condition. A few hours ago, she posted a romantic photo from the hospital room where Rico is, in which they can be seen holding hands and doing something as everyday as watching a series on a laptop.

“It is not where, but with whom”, writes the Sevillian journalist. One day less to leave the hospital, where they hope they will soon discharge him. Silva, at least, hopes that this moment is imminent: “A bit waiting like us but she is perfectly aware,” she confessed a few days ago.

On the exact date of discharge, the Sevillian still does not know if it will happen this week or next. “We are still waiting for them to tell us something else, if they are going to discharge him during this week, if later… we are waiting.”

The goalkeeper wanted to thank all the support he has received during these months, who reappeared a few days ago on his social networks with a thank you message: ”I continue working on my recovery that is getting better every day”.

On May 28, Sergio Rico suffered a head injury after being hit on the head by a horse during the pilgrimage to Rocío. The accident forced the well-known soccer player to be transferred to the ICU of the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville, where he remained in a coma for several weeks, monitored by the hospital’s medical specialists and with ups and downs in his evolution in the days that followed.

Against all odds, Rico has managed to favorably overcome the terrible accident that could have caused his death, since the trauma caused by the strong blow to the head caused him a serious stroke. However, after many days of waiting and being under the best medical care, the footballer is recovering favorably, although he still has a long recovery ahead of him.
