In this report in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia we can admire some spectacular lenticular clouds on the Pic de Bastiments, in the area of ??the old refuge of Ulldeter, on a windy day.
The Pic de Bastiments or Pic del Gegant (2881 meters) places us on the axis between Ripollès and Conflent, which separates the Circo de Ulldeter from the Circo de Bacivers. It is the easternmost peak of the Pyrenees that reaches 2800 meters of altitude (there is no other summit that exceeds this height).
This peak is located at the confluence of the terms Setcases and Queralbs, in the Ripollès region, and Fontpedrosa, in Conflent.
It is a relatively easy ascent peak, a true classic, which in these beautiful images we can admire under a sky drawn with these huge lenticular clouds.
Lenticular clouds are so called because they are lentil-shaped, as their name indicates, or there are also those who see them as a saucer or converging lens.
They are stationary and form mainly at high altitudes in mountainous areas and isolated from other clouds. Among the mountaineers these clouds are considered a harbinger of a storm.
In the Gra de Fajol, 2,714 metres, between the municipalities of Queralbs and Setcases, the landscape continues to shape itself in such a way that it seems as if the sky wanted to merge with the mountain.
In the River Ter it begins to make itself known in this landscape. So much so that it is born in Ulldeter, at an altitude of 2,480 meters, at the foot of a glacial cirque near Setcases.
