Working conditions in the hospitality sector are not the best, and waiters and cooks are often subjected to marathon days for paltry salaries compared to the number of hours they work.

Today, through an image uploaded by the Twitter account @soycamarero, related to the hospitality sector, we have learned that one of the Spanish restaurants that has a Michelin star (which one has not been published) has made a proposal on the distribution of tips and penalties for being late, which has not left anyone indifferent.

The proposal entitled “Tips” goes to say that the management of the restaurant in question has decided to change the distribution of tips so that everyone receives the same, and that in this way those who until now were less involved in getting the much-desired tips , charge more and in this way when they are asked to stay for overtime, accept.

This in itself is already curious because the establishment would not have to interfere in the distribution of tips, but it is that towards the end of the letter they add that due to the large number of breakages and loss of material, the amount will be deducted from said tips.

Undoubtedly, the section that has attracted the most attention in the document is that of sanctions. The management complains about lateness, clothing and personal hygiene and for this reason it has decided to implement a series of sanctions that are clearly abusive and that have aroused complaints from users.

Taking refuge in the fact that they have a Michelin star, the restaurant asks for excellence when entering work, in wearing clean and ironed clothes, and in not being shaved or in the case of having a beard, not grooming it.

Regarding punctuality, these are the sanctions they propose:

This has obviously aroused the ire of users because it is clearly abusive. Without taking into account that neither waiters nor cooks charge those amounts for those minutes, the indignation comes when overtime is discussed. “And arriving 15 minutes early or much sooner isn’t €50 compensation to the employee?” Asks one in the comments. “In other words, if you arrive late I’ll take money from you, but if I tell you to stay longer, you won’t complain because otherwise there’s no tip,” says another.

The @soycamarero account itself, with more than 112,000 followers, explained that in his opinion, “before awarding a Michelin star, they should also be sure that the team has decent conditions and that all their rights are respected, that would be a true star, knowing that you are going to eat very well and be sure that the team is not exploited and is happy”, he concluded.
