The Spanish free mixed duo, with Dennis González and Mireia Hernández, won the bronze medal in the Swimming World Championships that is being held in Fukuoka (Japan) after a performance that made them add 183.4207 points.
Spain was behind the 225.1020 of the Chinese couple formed by Wentao Cheng and Haoyu Shi and the Mexican one made up of Diego Villobos and Itzamary González Cuellar, with some 192.5500 points that allowed them to achieve their first medal in artistic swimming.
For their part, Dennis Gonzalez and Mireia Hernández added five fewer points in their routine compared to Friday’s preliminary round, after suffering one more penalty in one of their hybrids, in the sixth, as well as in the last, which they committed on both occasions.
However, they returned to keep the best score in artistic impression with 89.2500 points, and allowed the Spanish couple to secure bronze ahead of Colombia (170.2208).
Dennis González, 19, and Mireia Hernández, 21, thus achieved the seventh metal for Spain in the Fukuoka World Cup with which it is the third bronze, in addition to three golds and one silver; equaling his best record of medals in a World Cup, that of Barcelona 2013.
