More than half of the country will continue to be warned this Saturday for rain, snowfall, wind or coastal phenomena due to the passage of the storm ‘Nelson’, as reported by the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET).

Specifically, the Andalusian provinces of Almería will be on yellow notice, due to waves; Cádiz, due to rains and waves; Granada, due to rain; and Malaga, due to rains and waves; or the Aragonese province of Huesca due to snowfall.

The Balearic Islands will also be under a yellow warning due to wind and waves; Murcia by waves; Navarra due to rain and snow; or La Rioja due to snowfall.

In Castilla y León, the provinces of Ávila will be at risk due to rain and snow and Burgos, León, Palencia, Segovia, Soria and Zamora due to snowfall.

Furthermore, in Catalonia, the waves will have a yellow warning for Gerona and the snow for Lérida; in Cáceres, the rain will have a yellow warning for Cáceres; and in the Valencian Community the province of Alicante will be at risk from waves.

In the Canary Islands, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, La Gomera, El Hierro and Tenerife will be under a yellow warning due to coastal phenomena.

The ‘Nelson’ storm will continue to affect the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands with cloudy skies and almost widespread rainfall, which is expected to be more abundant in the west of Galicia and the Central System and in Andalusia, where they can be locally strong or persistent and occasionally accompanied by a storm. .

In the eastern third, the Ebro Valley, and the Cantabrian Sea they will be more dispersed and occasional, being unlikely in the Balearic Islands. They will be in the form of mountain snow.

In the Canary Islands, cloudy intervals and the possibility of weak rainfall are expected, more likely on the mountainous islands, especially on La Palma.

In mountain areas of the peninsula there could be fog banks, and some haze in the extreme east of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands tending to subside.

The snow level will be 900/1,200 meters in the northwest quadrant, 1,000/1,400 meters in the Pyrenees, rising to 1,400/1,600 meters, 1,400/1,700 meters in the southeast and 1,200/1,600 in the rest.

Temperatures tend to decrease in the eastern third of the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, and with few changes in the rest except for a moderate rise in maximum temperatures in the Basque Country and northern Castilla y León; and weak frosts are expected in the mountains of the northern and southeastern half, moderate in the Pyrenees.

The winds will blow from the southwest in most of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands, with strong intervals and very strong gusts in the southern half of the peninsular Mediterranean coast. In the Canary Islands, moderate winds will blow from the west, with some strong intervals.
