“Perhaps there is no evil that does not come for good”. This is the phrase that Jordi Turull, General Secretary of Junts, has used to explain the situation of his party after the results of 23-J.

Turull, in an interview in El món to RAC1, has not closed the door on a possible investiture of Sánchez, and is waiting for the President of the Government to make a move. “The pressure has to go towards Sánchez, not towards us.” The secretary of Junts has urged ERC to “take advantage” of the result of the generals and “reinforce the independence movement” by remaking “the strategic unity”.

The former Junts deputy has marked the way forward for his party in the coming days. Turull has assured that he will first “talk with all the pro-independence forces and entities” to try to assert “the golden opportunity” that the ballot box has given him and later “they will negotiate with the State if they are willing.”

The leader of Junts has affirmed that “as Pedro Sánchez is, I don’t see the investiture anywhere right now”, and he has asked himself “what is he -Sánchez- willing to do to invest him”. Turull has cited the amnesty and the referendum as “subjects of great consensus” in Catalonia. “If there is political will, there is a legal solution,” he added.

After the tie for seats that the two main pro-independence forces obtained yesterday and losing 700,000 votes, Turull has called on ERC to “reorder” and reach an agreement. “We put our position at the disposal of the independence movement,” he added. Thus, he has claimed that “the strength of the independence movement is in unity and mobilization”, and recalled that “united we were stronger”. “If the faces have to be a problem, we will choose the necessary ones to reach an agreement,” he stressed.

Turull has also assessed the results of the general elections held yesterday, and has explained that the drop in the independence vote is due to the fact that, on the one hand, “many independentistas voted ‘no’ to PP and VOX, the vote of fear”, while on the other hand, some decided to “abstain.”
