Jaylen Brown has reached an agreement with the Boston Celtics to renew for five years and 304 million dollars in total, which is the largest contract ever signed in NBA history.
The ESPN network and The Athletic portal reported this Tuesday of this agreement by which Brown will continue to be linked to the Celtics until the 2028-29 season and will continue to be Jayson Tatum’s luxury squire in the green franchise.
Brown will earn 31.8 million this year, the last of his old contract, before starting this new and very lucrative extension of his relationship with the Boston team. Selected third in the 2016 draft, Brown has spent seven seasons in the NBA, all in Boston, and the Celtics have played in the playoffs in all seven.
In the last regular season he had the best numbers of his career with averages of 26.6 points (49.1% shooting from the field), 6.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. Tatum and Brown led Boston to the NBA Finals in 2022, where they lost to Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors 4-2.
Last season they were eliminated in the Eastern Conference final by the Miami Heat (3-4) after losing Game 7 at home and staying just one step away from becoming the first team in league history to come back from 0-3 down in the playoffs.
The Celtics were the second best team in the East in the regular season, behind only the Milwaukee Bucks, and Tatum was selected in the best five in the league, while Brown was selected in the second best.
