An account with just 400 followers can get 10 million views with a photo of a granny having a snack. @Maurivieyra_14 simply wrote: “Today I went to have a snack with my grandmother and she asked me if I wasn’t ashamed to be seen with her, if she knew how lucky I am to have her.” She’s not just a grandson showing off his grandmother and collecting his likes record from her at breakneck speed; it is an invitation to nostalgia, for some, and to the celebration of her luck, for others.
Without having combed through the thousands of comments generated, we can record, with a margin of error lower than that of the electoral polls of July 23, that this is the most repeated: “I wish I could sit down and have a snack with my grandmother.” And its variations: “The true treasure”, “The best love I had in my life”, “What I wouldn’t give for one last snack with my grandmother”.
On Sunday there were also snacks, vermouth and walks with grandparents narrated on social networks. “Here my grandmother voting” and the like. Several made reference to the fact that the vote of their grandparents was to defend the rights and freedoms that they have only seen for their grandchildren.
There are grandparents who are protagonists of virals and there are those who have already become stars, with their own communities, largely made up of very young followers. On Tik Tok, for example, there is Rosa Vallejo, alias @conbuenhumor, an Andalusian octogenarian who records humorous clips with her grandson and who, mind you, has nine million followers. Or @laabumagda, six grandchildren and 60,000 followers, whose first success was a video singing while she took her granddaughters back home after picking them up at parties. Or @layayamaricarmen, also a specialist in laughter, with more than 300,000.
Last week, the actor Miguel Ángel Muñoz said goodbye to another internet grandmother, with whom he filmed “100 days with Tata” during the confinement. His tata was not his grandmother – she was actually his great-grandmother’s sister – but she was the one who took care of him since he was a child and he has returned the favor for her these last few years. Together they looked at her networks – she made an account of hers on Instagram for her, @ soylatatareal – in one more example of the true devotion that the internet has for the moments shared with her grandparents.
There are grandmothers, grandfathers and tatas who are the true heritage of life. If you got touched by one, you know it.
