A total of 233,688 residents abroad have exercised their right to vote in the general elections of 23-J, which represents 10.04% of the 2.3 million Spaniards registered in the Census of Residents Absent Abroad (WAX).

In the 2019 general elections, 145,853 residents abroad exercised their right to vote, 6.85% of a census made up of 2,130,754 citizens, so in these elections the CERA vote has risen by just over three points.

According to the data to which EFE has had access, the highest participation has been registered in London, where 18.8% of the census has voted.

The result of the votes cast abroad will be known between today and Monday, when the Electoral Board carries out the recount, and it will be known if it affects in any way the current distribution of seats. A priori, changes are unlikely, but the one who has them closest to them is the PP, which is disputing for a few thousand votes for a seat in Madrid, Malaga, Girona and Tarragona.

The 136 deputies that the PP has obtained, the 122 from the PSOE and the 7 from Junts could move up or down after the ballots of the voters registered in the Census of Absent Residents Abroad are scrutinized.

The right and left blocks that currently have 171 and 172 seats, respectively, for which reason Junts must abstain today for the investiture of Pedro Sánchez, although this could vary depending on the result of this scrutiny.
