Agents of the Civil Guard have arrested a man who hit a patrol while driving a stolen car with which he was fleeing from the Local Police of Catarroja in the direction of Alicante on V-31 and A-7.
Around 2:00 p.m. this Saturday, the COTA Central of the Traffic Subsector of the Civil Guard of Valencia received a notice that an orange Audi Q3 vehicle, barely two months old, had been stolen in that same town and was being followed by the Local Police of Catarroja.
Immediately, and in coordination with the Valencia Civil Guard Command, a device was established to locate the vehicle that ignored all the patrols that tried to catch up with it, with “manifestly reckless” driving that put the rest at risk of road users, the armed institute has indicated in a statement.
At about 2:46 p.m., a patrol belonging to the Valencia-A Detachment managed to locate him at the height of the Ronda Nord de Catarroja, at which time the agents blocked the passage when the official vehicle crossed on its way, safely.
Despite this, the driver of the Audi Q3 violently rammed the police vehicle, causing both vehicles to be destroyed.
After the collision, the driver fled on foot from the scene, and was pursued by Civil Guard agents, who, despite having been injured after the crash, managed to catch up with him, reduce him and proceed to his immediate arrest.
The detainee, a 42-year-old man with an extensive criminal record, was transferred to the Catarroja Civil Guard facilities where he remains detained until he is brought before the courts.
The suspect is accused of the crimes of theft of use of a motor vehicle, manifestly reckless driving without ever having obtained a driving license, being under the influence of toxic drugs or narcotics, and attacking law enforcement officers.
Both the driver and the Civil Guards were evacuated to a medical center to be treated for injuries, although these are not serious in principle.
