Manolo Escobar is once again the protagonist of today after the appearance of Julián Montiel Peña, a 52-year-old Mallorcan who claims to be the artist’s biological son, the result of a fleeting romance with his mother in the early 1970s. A testimony that is already taking his first steps through legal channels, ensuring that he has all kinds of evidence and with a clear message for the family of the mythical interpreter: he only wants to know his truth.

A controversy to which Vanessa García Marx, the artist’s only daughter and heiress, tries to turn a deaf ear as she prepares a tribute to her father, for whom next November she will hold a great concert in his honor on the tenth anniversary of his death . A date for which she does not intend to let anything tarnish the memory of her father or her image, not even the appearance of her presumed son.

Montiel has made it clear that he is not moving for economic reasons, but that is something that Manolo Escobar’s daughter doubts. She has stated this in an interview with El Español, where she tells how she is experiencing the appearance of her alleged brother in the public sphere, something that makes it clear that she “seems indecent.”

Manolo Escobar’s daughter believes that everyone can have doubts about his paternity and seek the truth, but she does not understand the reason for this search for Montiel precisely now, so many years later. “It doesn’t seem logical to me that it should be done when the one you think is your father has passed away. I don’t understand it, ”she declares, even less when, as she considers,“ they don’t know or have proof ”:“ It seems indecent to me to do it and publish it ”.

For Vanessa García, that Julián Montiel reiterates that he does not move for economic reasons “does not make sense”, because he seeks to be recognized as the son of a father when he still has a legal father. “He is indecent when they have not verified anything. The first thing they have to rule out is that this legal father is not her biological father, ”explains the artist’s daughter, who now also has to face the courts so as not to allow them to dirty the memory of her father.

Her father’s inheritance, which at one point was said to be in excess of ten million euros, but according to her daughter “is not even close”; could be the great hidden motivation behind all this controversy. According to the artist’s daughter, “people hear about the 10 million euros and think ‘let’s see what I can get out of here'”, she insists.

An inheritance that, in reality, does not exist. Manolo Escobar went bankrupt in 1980 and was in debt until his death, as confirmed by his daughter. In addition, he does not receive any royalties for the theme of his records, and he never wrote his lyrics, so he does not receive anything from the SGAE either.

For his part, Julián Montiel insists on his truth, which he would have “discovered” only seven months ago. A matter in which he insists that he is not moving for money, since he would “never” “dare” to invent something like that. “I wish I had shown up when he was alive, because I could have met him, if only to say goodbye to him.”
