The mayor of Fuenterrobles, Adrián Álvarez, a small town in the interior of the province of Valencia, has denounced “the homophobic aggression” against him and his partner by a woman in the middle of the street. As he explained in a telephone conversation with La Vanguardia, a neighbor who has disagreements with them over a restaurant that they both have in the municipality, stood before them when they were going to take the car and began to insult them shouting “faggots”, “faggots”. of shit” and, addressing the first mayor, he asked him, insistently, “How do I call you mayor or mayoress?”.

The assaulted, according to Álvarez’s version, ignored her, but the woman “went into a rage” and gave the alderman “a punch in the jaw” and another in the head of her partner, breaking his glasses. It was then that the couple pulled the woman off of her that she fell to the ground and began to say that she had been assaulted. “Fortunately, there were witnesses who saw what happened,” she told this newspaper.

The mayor and his partner have filed a complaint with the Civil Guard with the report of injuries due to “an unjustifiable homophobic aggression.” It is the second legislature of Álvarez at the head of this City Council of the Utiel-Requena region.

From Esquerra Unida del País Valencià -party of the first mayor-, a message of support for its mayor has been published and it has been denounced that “hate speech from the right-wing involves physical violence”, such as that suffered by Adrián and his partner . Likewise, he has warned: “We will not give up a single space to hate. We will fight every day, as always, for LGTBIQA rights.”
