Juan Francisco Pérez Llorca will assume the General Secretariat of the PPCV and Juan Carlos Caballero, the General Coordination after the move to the side that has decided to give Carlos Mazón’s number two in the party up to now, María José Catalá, who prefers to focus her work at the forefront of the Valencia City Council, which has governed since the municipal elections of 23-J.

This has been decided at the meeting of the Autonomous Board of Directors of the PPCV held this Thursday afternoon and which has been chaired by the leader of the popular Valencians and president of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, according to party sources.

“The residents of Valencia are my priority. My only dream and professional challenge was to be mayoress of Valencia. When the president asked me to be his general secretary, I told him so and he asked me to make an effort to unite the party, help him win the Generalitat and recover the Valencia City Council. I have done. Duties fulfilled”, said Catalá. The mayor is also an autonomous deputy

The mayoress also recalled that this Thursday marks two years and a month of the PPCV regional congress, when Mazón was elected president of the party and appointed her general secretary, before which she stated: “The president asked me for two challenges: to unite and activate the party, and build a winning project. Now we are stronger, with more militants and we have swept the elections”.

After her speech, Mazón thanked her for her dedication and assured: “Two years ago I told her that I was going to take a step forward in the game, but that I only did so with her by my side. I will never be able to thank María José for the work she has done. I asked him to be an electoral ‘ticket’ and it has worked very well. How right she was when I asked her to be my secretary two years ago. We have fulfilled a dream”.

The president of the PPCV has announced that Pérez Llorca -until now general coordinator of the party and a key player, together with the current síndic in Les Corts, Miguel Barrachina, in the negotiation that allowed the government agreement with Vox to invest Mazón as president of the Generalitat- will assume the General Secretariat, and Caballero -one of Catalá’s “right hands” in the consistory- will be the new general coordinator.
