The Real Club Celta de Vigo has announced this Friday afternoon that it has decided to unilaterally terminate the contract that united Santi Mina with the Galician club.

As explained in a statement, the entity has made the decision “after carefully analyzing the different legal alternatives available” after the Andalusian Superior Court of Justice (TSJA) confirmed the four-year prison sentence imposed on July 19. the footballer for sexually abusing a woman in Mojácar in 2017.

Santi Mina, who was playing his second stage at the Galician club after four seasons at Valencia, was sentenced to four years in prison by the Provincial Court of Almería for sexually abusing a woman in Mojácar. Subsequently, he decided to review the sentence and a few weeks ago the TSJA confirmed it, although it partly upheld his appeal and reduced the compensation to the victim for moral damages from 50,000 to 25,000 euros.

After learning of this new judicial decision, the soccer player’s lawyer, Fátima Magdalena Rodríguez, indicated that she would file an appeal before the Supreme Court (TS), for which she had a period of five days. For its part, the prosecution will request the admission of Mina to preventive detention.
