Daniel Sancho, son of actor Rodolfo Sancho, is under arrest after being accused of allegedly murdering Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, a Colombian surgeon with whom he was on vacation on an island in Thailand. The 29-year-old man would have initially denied having killed the doctor, but later confessed to the police that he himself was the one who killed and dismembered him. The Spanish chef is in custody receiving consular assistance after his confession and awaiting the arrival of his father in the country. The Thai authorities have assured that Daniel is very nervous and under surveillance for risk of suicide.

Daniel Sancho was the last person to see Edwin Arrieta alive before parts of his body were found in a landfill in Thailand. It was the Spaniard who went to the police station to report his disappearance, after the remains were found. He denied it was him, but the scratches on his back were an indication to the authorities that he could be the killer. In addition, several cameras in the area captured him at the beginning of the week buying knives, a saw and garbage bags.

According to the Bangkok Post, a police source assured that during the interrogation, Sancho told the investigators that he had taken Arrieta to his room. She claimed that the man wanted to have sex with him, but he refused. Going into a fit of rage, he punched his friend, causing the victim to fall unconscious after hitting her head on a bathtub. Subsequently, Daniel decided to cut the body into 14 parts. Some of these parts have been found in different places, others were thrown into the sea.

“We still don’t know the motive for the murder. Initially, we believe it could be due to a jealous rage,” the chief of the Koh Pha Ngan police station told reporters. “The investigation found that Daniel Sancho had carefully prepared himself by buying other items to hide the body,” he continued. In addition to the garbage bags, Sancho would have put other parts of the body in a travel bag that he would have thrown on the Salad beach, which is near the hotel. Before reporting the disappearance of his friend, the actor’s son would have attended a party with two women he met at the hotel where he was staying, the outlet notes.

After being detained for immigration offenses and having his visa revoked, he showed clear signs of stress, but still refused to confess. “I have instructed the police to keep a close eye on him for fear that he may resort to suicide,” the chief of the Koh Pha Ngan police station said. That is why the young man is constantly watched by the authorities at the police stations.

As the Informalia portal pointed out this Saturday, the father of the alleged murderer, the actor Rodolfo Sancho, would already be on his way to the Asian country. Apparently, he has tried to contact Spanish diplomatic representatives in Bangkok, but finally “has caught the first plane to come to the aid of his son.” We will have to wait to learn more about this case.
