The Israeli Army withdrew early this Monday from the Al Shifa hospital, in Gaza City, after two weeks of siege of what is the largest medical complex in the Palestinian enclave, as confirmed to EFE by Palestinian sources in Gaza City.

Israeli troops, who launched this operation on March 18, claim to have killed around 200 suspected militants and have identified 500 members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad after interrogating around 800 suspects.

However, the Gaza Health Ministry, controlled by Hamas, indicated yesterday that the Israeli raid against the medical complex has left at least 400 dead throughout the area.

Israeli forces confirmed the withdrawal of al-Shifa hospital and the army reported the seizure of weapons and intelligence documents. According to their statement, the sweep of what had been the largest hospital in the enclave before the war had been carried out “avoiding damage to civilians, patients and medical equipment.”

For its part, the Israeli Army noted that a drone attack hit a building near the port of Eilat, in the south of the country, with no injuries reported. An aggression that came “from the east”, apparently coming from Iraq, according to a military statement. The reference to the projectile coincides with a claim of attack this morning by the Islamic Resistance of Iraq, which is the first time that it has managed to have one of its launches reach Israel, although not the first it has launched since the war in the Strip began. Loop.

Israeli media suggest that the target of the attack would be the Saar 6 frigate, moored in the port of Eilat, since the impact occurred in a nearby building. Eilat has been the target of several launches of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones in parallel to the war, but most of them coming from the Houthis of Yemen, a group related to Iran, although none have caused major damage, but they did force Israel to late October to deploy a warship to the Red Sea to intercept them. Most of the launches have been intercepted by Israel’s long-range Arrow defense system.
