The Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) have scheduled improvement works on two sections of the Barcelona-Vallès and Llobregat-Anoia lines between August 12 and 20 that will force them to temporarily interrupt part of the service.

In the case of the first line, the Gràcia, Sant Gervasi, Muntaner, La Bonanova, Les Tres Torres and Sarrià stops will be affected.

As regards the second, the Gornal, Sant Josep and L’Hospitalet-Avinguda Carrilet stations will be intervened. In both cases, the company will offer an alternative bus service while the works last, scheduled on dates of low demand on the metropolitan lines in order to minimize the impact among users.

As the company has detailed in a statement on Monday, the action on the Barcelona-Vallès line affects a 640-meter section of track. New concrete slab tracks will be installed there, replacing the current track on ballast with the aim of improving the robustness of the service, reducing vibrations and reducing maintenance costs.

As for the Llobregat-Anoia line, the works started at the beginning of July are focused on carrying out a new counter-turn to reinforce the tunnel structure, where the track is also renewed in a 400-metre section.

In addition to the damage to the subsoil, from August 8 to 27, the works will also involve cutting a traffic lane on Via Augusta, in the section between Vallmajor and Santaló streets, and cutting the bike lane. The bus stop for this section will remain shifted to Calvet street. In addition, the side of the Ronda General Miter will be cut at the height of Lázaro Cárdenas street, with exclusive access for residents.
