The 36 passengers who were traveling on a medium-distance train that covered the Lleida-Zaragoza route this Tuesday have had to be evacuated due to an outbreak of fire in the convoy that has caused dense smoke. Fortunately, the incident ended without registering personal injuries, as confirmed by Renfe sources.

The event took place around 7:00 in the morning. The train, which had left the Lleida station at 5:55 a.m., began to burn for unknown reasons in the vicinity of the Monegrín town of Curbe, very close to Grañén.

After giving notice of the cloud of smoke arising from the engine, Renfe has activated the emergency protocol, through which members of the Fire Department, the Civil Guard and health workers have been deployed, who have controlled the fire and have helped the personnel of the railroad in evacuation tasks.

Despite the fact that the outbreak of fire has caused a lot of smoke, the passengers have been able to get out of the train on their own feet and none of them has been intoxicated.

Taking advantage of the road transport service that the company has established this month between Grañén and the Zaragoza-Delicias station due to the works being carried out on the Zuera branch, the same bus that was waiting for passengers in Grañén has approached to the area of ??the fire to evacuate those affected, who have suffered a delay of more than an hour and a half. From Renfe they have indicated that some of them were going to Madrid, so they have been relocated to other services to reach their destination.

Renfe has informed around 2:30 p.m. that the railway line between Zaragoza and Lleida has already been reopened to traffic, which has had to stop near the town of Curbe, in the Huesca municipality of Grañén.
