A restaurant located in Cuneo, a city that belongs to the Italian region of Piedmont, has gone viral after charging a very unusual extra. After eating some gnocchi and ravioli, some customers decided to share dessert, specifically a Catalan cream. What they did not expect is that they would be charged a €1.50 charge for the second spoon, explains Dissapore.

Apparently, these types of extras are becoming popular in several establishments in Italy. A few days ago, the account of another Ligurian restaurant also went viral for charging €2 more to some diners who shared a plate of trofie. These charges have divided the country of the boot: while many insist that they are abusive, some hoteliers defend them.

The owner of a restaurant located on Lake Como, who is already known throughout the country for charging €2 more to customers who shared an avocado toast, has explained that using extra crockery when only one plate has been ordered means more business expense. “You have to pay for a matter of equity, since two people occupy a table where only one diner pays for the food,” he told Dissapore.

On the opposite side, consumers defend that these charges are abusive and that they are not justified even if they are indicated in the menu of the establishment.

In Spain, it is also common for a ticket with an excessive charge to go viral from time to time. However, opposite situations also occur: a few days ago a bar in Logroño went viral for subtracting ten cents from a customer from the total bill, an act that was not well received. The reason? The ticket indicated that it was a discount for ugly people.
