More than a week has passed since the terrible murder of the Colombian Edwin Arrieta. An event for which the Spanish Daniel Sancho pleaded guilty and, therefore, remains in provisional prison awaiting trial. At the moment, the police in charge of the case continue to collect evidence to finish a first report on the investigation, which they will deliver to the prosecutor, and that would be when the trial could begin.
Daniel Sancho confessed to the police that he is the confessed perpetrator of the crime of Edwin Arrieta, a Colombian surgeon whom, according to his own account, he killed and dismembered for three hours, and then threw his remains into the sea. In his statements, he has acknowledged that he had sexual relations with the doctor, and that he came to lend him up to 10,000 euros to help him set up a restaurant in Spain. One of his friends refers precisely to that economic motive, who has confessed to Semana magazine that the link between the two could be “a bigger mess” than everyone thinks.
According to this friend of Sancho’s, between Arrieta and Sancho there could have been an economic problem “with a lot of money involved”: “We are not talking about small amounts, like the 10,000 euros to which Daniel has referred. We are talking about large quantities, ”explains the source consulted by the aforementioned publication, who has known Arrieta’s confessed murderer since childhood.
What’s more, as part of his circle of friends for years, he is sure when he insists that Daniel Sancho “is not homosexual”, which is consistent with the statements made by Rodolfo Sancho’s own son to the police, who denied having a further relationship. beyond the simple friendship with the Colombian despite having admitted that they had had sexual relations and that they exchanged intimate photographs with which, later, allegedly, the surgeon would have blackmailed him.
Sancho’s closest circle of friends continues “without giving credit to what is happening”, and following the theory that has gained the most strength in recent days, many suspect that there is something more behind the figure of the surgeon.
Sancho remains in pretrial detention in the Koh Samui island jail after pleading guilty to the murder and dismemberment of Arrieta. So far, seven parts of the fifteen in which Arrieta’s body was dismembered have been found, according to Sancho confessed to the police during the interrogations, always willing to collaborate “in everything he can” with Justice. A collaboration that could bear fruit, since the collaboration of the Spanish with the process could speed up the police investigation and the start of the trial.
The case of Sancho, 29 years old and son of the Spanish actor Rodolfo Sancho, grandson of the also actor Sancho Gracia, known by his two last names, has aroused high media interest and a wave of speculation about the crime.
