Few figures have achieved the meteoric rise that Ibai Llanos has experienced. From being a charismatic announcer in electronic sports, he became one of the most influential content creators in the Spanish-speaking world. But with great power comes great responsibility, and in Ibai’s case, this translates into a constant avalanche of proposals and projects knocking on his door.

From presenting television programs to narrating world-class sporting events, the Basque is in a position in which he has to be selective and, in many cases, reject opportunities simply because his schedule no longer allows for more, as is the case with The Grand Prix.

This show, affectionately known to many as the “Grandpa and Kid Show,” made its triumphant return to the public network after an 18-year absence. And he did it after Ibai himself moved heaven and earth to recover the contest. So it was logical to think that the content creator would be part of the team.

In this sense, before the streamer Cristinini was signed to be part of the team, TVE and Euro TV Producciones thought of Ibai, who had also already displayed a wonderful relationship with Ramón García, with whom he has shared the screen presenting the Chimes on previous occasions.

Despite the great opportunity, Ibai decided not to accept TVE’s proposal. The reason? His professional commitments to the Kings League. “I refused to narrate the soccer World Cup and present The Grand Prix, precisely because of the Kings League. In addition, three days ago, they offered me to comment on the basketball World Cup and I also had to say no,” Ibai revealed in a recent directly next to Gerard Piqué, who was left with his mouth open.

Despite the absence of Llanos, the show has returned with great success, with Ramón García reprising his role as main presenter after almost two decades, accompanied by actress Michelle Calvó and, of course, Cristinini.
