The swords between popular and socialists continue in style. This Saturday, the general coordinator of the PP, Elías Bendodo, criticized that the general secretary of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, has preferred that the agreement between the two formations in Ceuta “blow up” “instead of shielding” his unit with the agreement of “outstretched hand” of the president of Ceuta, Juan Jesús Vivas, and of the PP in “pro of the singularity of this land”.
During his visit to the autonomous city, Bendodo insisted that all the parties must send a message of unity in Ceuta and Melilla, since they are borders of the European Union. “Ceuta is in the first line of defense of the Spanishness of our country and at the same time it is an example among citizens, whatever they pray or whatever their name is,” he stressed.
In his opinion, the PSOE “has long since ceased to be a state party and Sánchez has imposed his particular interests” on those of the country as a whole and of Ceuta. However, he has argued that governments in the majority are forged after a minority government and that we have the best example in Andalusia.
Bendodo was also very upset with the news of the candidacy of the acting first vice president, Nadia Calviño, to preside over the European Investment Bank (EIB). In this regard, he called it a “democratic anomaly” that Sánchez did not previously inform Alberto Núñez Feijóo about this fact.
“It is one more democratic anomaly that Sánchez, before the candidacy for such an important body, does not call the opposition leader to talk about this, which shows his arrogance and arrogance in all his decisions,” he asserted.
He also accused the acting president of “lying” because, he alleged, Sánchez presented Calviño as his “economic voice” during the general election campaign despite the fact that he is now his “interim economic voice.”
At this point, Bendodo has speculated that Sánchez has made this decision to find a way out for Calviño. “Seeing that he is not going to have enough support for the investiture, he is beginning to think about relocating his ministers,” he speculated.
However, the also Minister of Economy has assured that she will continue to lead her duties, both now and if Sánchez manages to form a new Government, until at the end of the year she would have to take over the presidency of the EIB if she is elected.
In addition, the popular general coordinator took the opportunity to insist that Feijóo should be the next president of Spain. Insisting on the argument that they are the party called to govern since they won the elections, Bendodo stressed that they have 50 more deputies than Sánchez for the investiture, which brings the PP closer to “the green light.”
The popular ones have the support of Vox and UPN, with which they add 171 votes in favour, plus a possible extra seat from the Canary Islands Coalition, although they still would not reach the 176 ‘yes’ they need.
On the contrary, he pointed out that Sánchez “only has his 121 seats, and he has not even insured those of Sumar”, because Podemos “has already said that he will see what he does”.
