Night of chaos and fear in a tourist apartment located in the Malaga town of Benalmádena. A man, wearing a mask and carrying a large knife, walked through the building last night threatening to blow it up. It was the National Police, thanks to the work of a negotiator and the agents of the Special Security Operations Groups (GOES), who managed to subdue the individual and restore calm and tranquility among the guests.

The now arrested, 29-year-old, barricaded himself inside an apartment after midnight, and began to throw objects from the terrace onto the public road and threaten to cause an explosion in the property.

The young man, who put up great resistance, was arrested thanks to the implementation of a large police device, as reported by the Provincial Commissioner in a statement, and has been accused of various crimes such as damage, attacking agents of the authority and a police claim for other previous events, related to a crime of threats.

The events began around 1:45 a.m., when the Cimacc 091 Intelligent Command, Communication and Control Center received a notice alerting to the presence of a strange person with a mask and a large knife, in the common areas of a building Benalmadena. The suspect would also have emptied a fire extinguisher on the stairs.

Initially, it was plainclothes agents who went to the place to carry out the first investigations, locating a knife with a 25-centimeter blade next to the door of an apartment. There, they tried to get the inhabitant to open the door, although the result was unsuccessful.

The situation worsened when the tenant of the apartment began to throw objects onto the public road from the balcony. Among these effects were a fire extinguisher, a five-liter bucket containing boiling water and a corrosive substance (which gave off the smell of bleach), gym weights, seven knives, a microwave oven, and kitchen utensils.

The agents had to cordon off the area to avoid risks for pedestrians, as it is a busy place with access to the promenade of the town of Malaga.

In addition, the attacker even threatened to cause an explosion, holding a lit candle in one hand and, in the other, a can that could contain some flammable liquid.

The resistance of the suspect led to the development in the area of ??a large police device with the participation of half a dozen radio patrol cars, the activation of the figure of the negotiator and the presence of agents of the GOES Special Security Operations Group.

Precisely, GOES agents entered the house at around 6:30 a.m. and neutralized the young man, who was alone in the building and had placed a refrigerator behind the main door of the house to prevent the entry of the Police.

Likewise, the acting agents had the collaboration of the Benalmádena Fire Department, deploying a protective mat on public roads before the threat of the suspect of jumping into the void. The agents observed damage to the home, common areas of the building and vehicles parked in the area. No personal injury to be regretted.
