Renfe has reported that circulation between Vilanova i la Geltrú and Garraf has been restored on a track after the cuts yesterday that continued this morning. Yesterday morning Renfe reported a derailment of a Talgo train without passengers that forced the Garraf line to be cut. A train coming from Valencia and bound for Barcelona went off the track while on its way to the workshop, which caused the suspension of traffic, affecting thousands of passengers.
After the indignation of the users during the last day, Adif has reported this morning that during the night maintenance period the train axes have been put back on track. In this way, they explain, the repair work on the infrastructure continues, and although circulation has already been restored on one of the roads, it is not known when the same can be done in the other direction.
Renfe has launched an alternative service of 14 buses between Castelldefels and Vilanova i la Geltrú for users of the R2 line of Rodalies, as well as for travelers from the Tarragona and Ebre regional lines (R13, R14, R15, R16 and R17) that circulate on the Garraf line.
The incidence coincided on a very hot holiday on the Catalan coast. The alternative bus service offered by Renfe turned out to be insufficient and many users shared their outrage through social networks. Crowds of people waited for hours under the sun at the Castelldefels and Vilanova i la Geltrú stations.
Yesterday people from the Red Cross distributed water to the affected people at the cut stations. To process the return of tickets, Rodalies indicates that those affected should go to the ticket office or through the web, although they recommend going in person.
Today the images of long queues to take the bus that makes the alternative route between the stations of Vilanova and Castelldefels have been repeated, with the consequent indignation of the users. One of the widespread complaints has been the lack of information and poor organization.
