Alexandre Grimaldi continues to be one of the great unknowns of all those who surround the royal family of Monaco. About to turn 20, he is the son of Prince Albert of Monaco, the result of an eight-year relationship that he had with the Togolese flight attendant Nicole Conte. A son who at first was not recognized by the Monegasque sovereign, causing Conte to appear in the media claiming the paternity of his baby, which he would do when Alexandre was four months old.

Twenty years have passed since then, and now it is Alexandre Grimaldi himself who gives an interview to the French magazine Point de Vue in which he talks about his childhood, his mother and his role in the Monaco royal family.

Always under the watchful eye of his mother, the young man talks about his past, present and future. He has no rights to the throne, but he also does not intend to let them continue to charge him with that “illegitimate son”, even threatening to sue whoever he continues to attack his honor. “I am not illegitimate, because when I was born neither of my parents was in another marriage and they did not commit adultery. Using that word is insulting.”

Alexandre Grimaldi turns 20 on August 24, and ensures that his relationship with his parents is fantastic. In his interview, he has nothing but praise for them. “I am lucky that they are both loving parents.” Perhaps he had no relationship with Prince Albert at the beginning of his life, but that is not the case now.

Both the young man and the other daughter that the Monegasque sovereign had in 1991 with the American waitress Tamara Rotolo, Jazmin Grace (31), maintain a relationship with him. Also between them and with the twins Jacques -who will inherit the throne- and Gabriella, as true brothers despite being children of different mothers and with different dynastic rights.

Alexandre also tells that he grew up with his mother and her other children, so he had a happy and completely normal childhood. They have lived in different parts of the world, but for a few months they have been in Monaco, so that the young man can be closer to his father. “My son has had and has a balanced life that we protect as best we can,” Conte said in statements to the media.

The Togolese woman is a fierce defender of her son, advising him even in his romantic relationships. She leaves it up to her son to choose, but she trusts that she is someone with values ??who fits into her family and doesn’t hurt her.

Alexandre is clear about what he wants his future to be, always keeping in mind what his role is. “My father is a prince and head of state, so I can’t imagine walking down a catwalk,” he says, before stating that he prefers to have his own charity.

The young man studies Business at a university in the United Kingdom, and is confident that he can dedicate himself to what he likes best. Of course, he does not close the door to being able to work with his father in the future. Now then, he will have to finish training him first. “Let me get a degree and we’ll talk about it,” he says.
