L’Estartit – The Maritime Service of the Civil Guard of Girona rescued a family from Cerdanyola del Vallès (Barcelona), when their boat sank between the Medas Islands and the port of L’Estartit (Baix Empordà).

The family was rescued around three in the afternoon on August 10, when the agents patrolling the area detected a boat 200 meters from the mouth of the port in an area near the rocks that were sinking because a lot of water had entered.

There were three people in the water and two others on board. The boat came to capsize completely, dumping the last two occupants into the sea, just before the agents could reach the scene.

The Civil Guard agents rescued the five occupants of the recreational boat (three adults and two minors) with lifebuoys and put them on board. Despite the fact that they were in a state of great anxiety and presented various bruises and scratches, they did not require medical attention.
