The King today opens his ninth round of investiture consultations for the presidency of the Government, to which the leader of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, and that of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, aspire, although at the moment neither of them have secured sufficient support of the groups of the parliamentary arch.

The contacts will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the Union of the Navarro People (UPN), the Canary Islands Coalition (CC), PNV and Sumar, and will continue tomorrow Tuesday with Vox, PSOE and PP. In total there will be seven political groups, since ERC, EH Bildu, Junts and BNG have refused to meet with the Monarch.

The general secretary of the PP, Cuca Gamarra, reiterated yesterday the willingness of Núñez Feijóo to “assume the investiture if the head of state, King Felipe VI, so orders it.” She also described as “remarkable” that ERC, EH Bildu, Junts and Bildu are the ones who have refused to go to the Zarzuela, since they are “the groups that support” Sánchez.

For his part, the acting Minister of the Presidency, Félix Bolaños, yesterday criticized the “effort” of Núñez Feijóo to attempt the investiture and added that it will be “a waste of time” since “it is known in advance that the result will be a failure”. Regarding the investiture of Pedro Sánchez, he assured that they are working “with dialogue” to ensure that the country “continues to move forward” and being “sensitive to all territories and languages.”
