The PSOE-M has asked to act as a public prosecutor in the judicial proceedings against Alberto González Amador, partner of the president of the Community of Madrid. The Socialists justify the decision on the fact that knowing what happens to the “350,000 euros of all Madrid residents” is a matter of “general interest”.

The PSOE has forwarded this request to the court of inquiry number 19 of Madrid. The magistrate has summoned González Amador and four people to testify on May 20 and 21 for the alleged commission of two crimes of tax fraud and one crime of forgery in a commercial document.

In the letter, the PSOE-M justifies its personation in the cause, without the need for a complaint or bail, because “the facts that have their origin, in principle, in contracts related to the supply of health materials acquired during the management of the covid crisis would affect the general interests as is an attempt to defraud the public treasury, we would be faced with a cause of general interest of the citizens”.

The leader of the Madrid socialists, Juan Lobato, remarked that the company of the president’s partner went from billing “27,000 euros to 1.7 million, mainly because it has received money from Grupo Quirón”, a company which – he pointed out – it is the “largest recipient of public funds in the Community of Madrid”.

In this sense, Lobato, as announced last week by the deputy spokesperson of the Socialist group in the Assembly, Marta Bernardo, requests to appear in person in the case to have “access to the procedure and all the information to check” where all the money has gone.

In the same vein, the PSOE has registered a petition in the Senate to condemn the “intolerable, inadmissible and serious” attacks on journalists by public officials of the Government of the Community of Madrid, with reference to Miguel Ángel Rodríguez, the head of cabinet of the president of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso. This motion will be debated at this week’s plenary session in the Upper House.
