The socialist party has anticipated its “respect” before a possible decision of the King to propose the leader of the PP to try the investiture after the round of consultations opened today and that will end tomorrow Tuesday.

The Socialists consider, however, that Feijóo has failed and on two occasions, first before the polls on July 23 and last week in the vote for the configuration of the Congress table in which their candidate. Cuca Gamarra only got 137 votes: “We are not in a competition with the PP to see who goes first to the investiture. What the Head of State decides will always be fine. If he needs a third stumble to realize the reality that surrounds him, we will not be the ones to take away that idea”, point out socialist sources.

The PSOE recognize Feijóo’s right to try again. But they add that “he had the 23-J, the vote for the constitution of the courts and the table of Congress… it seems that he needs more information to get out of the shock, and if it has to be a fake investiture, there he is. We hope with all due respect to the King’s decision. With all institutional naturalness and without any pressure on the head of state as the PP does on a daily basis”.

The Socialist Party maintains its will to build “the only possible government” that is a reflection of the result of the elections on the 23rd and an expression of “a progressive, plural and diverse Spain”.

“Compliant with the given word”, but little convinced that the company will come to fruition, Unión del Pueblo Navarro (UPN) has informed King Felipe VI of its intention to support the PP candidate, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, in his attempt to investiture in the event that the monarch designates him as a candidate.

In a press conference from Congress, after being the first in the monarch’s round of consultations to propose a candidate for the Presidency of the Government, its president, Javier Esparza, has indicated that UPN should not tell the head of state what to do and will respect the decision you make.

“We continue betting on a government of the Popular Party but if of course the thing is between a PSOE government with Bildu or new elections, then hopefully we will go to a new electoral cycle”, he outlined, evidencing his pessimism before a successful investiture of Feijóo.

After his meeting with the president of UPN, the King received the representative of the Canary Islands Coalition (CC) at La Zarzuela. Cristina Valido has transferred to the monarch the support of her organization for Feijóo by having “the commitment of the PP” to comply with the two conditions that were transferred to her: That Vox is not in the Government and that the popular ones assume the Canarian agenda.

However, it has not closed to the second scenario either and has left the door open to support Sánchez as long as the Government immediately transfers the “more than 200 million euros in aid and investments agreed between both parties for the approval of the Budgets Generals of the State of 2023” and the PSOE subscribed to the new conditions of the insular Executive.

The so-called Canary Islands agenda consists of 55 points and includes, among others, investments in Education and research, as well as “aid for transport, airport management or hydraulic infrastructures”.

CC’s willingness to negotiate is also evidenced by rejecting the desire for an electoral repetition as UPN has slipped in the event that Feijóo did not achieve the investiture. “The Spanish do not deserve it,” Valido declared.

It should be noted that a hypothetical favorable vote of the Canary Islands Coalition for Sánchez would allow, for the investiture of the socialist, the abstention of Junts to suffice instead of demanding an affirmative vote, as was necessary last Thursday for the election of Francisca Armengol as president of the Congress of Deputies.

It is expected that this afternoon the monarch will receive the representative of the PNV, Aitor Esteban, and then Yolanda Díaz de Sumar.
