Anyone who has taken advantage of the holidays to spend a few days in the Lleida Pyrenees is likely to have seen –and even bought!– some of the T-shirts designed by Pere Báscones, Sara Ibáñez and David Comella. They have models on peaks, mountain sports or the Pyrenean culture and heritage. The guards and workers of various mountain refuges, as well as the CimsBeer beers, also wear the designs of these three entrepreneurs.

The business project was the idea of ??Báscones and Comella. “We had both designed t-shirts; I, more linked to Pallarese culture, with the Cambuleta association, and David, with sports brands”, recalls Báscones. “We wanted to promote a project that would make the territory known and, at the same time, collaborate with local initiatives,” says Comella. In September 2020, a little later than expected, due to the covid, the two partners launched their first T-shirts for sale, dedicated to the emblematic Pica d’Estats, the highest peak in Catalonia. Nòmada Pirineu Republik had just been born, aiming for the highest.

How could it be otherwise, the brand has established its headquarters in a Pyrenean town, in Sort (Pallars Sobirà), where they have also opened a small store. The entrepreneurs are the authors of the designs and outsource the process of manufacturing and printing the t-shirts. They make short runs, of which they are making reissues, and sell through their website and small stores in the Pyrenees.

The designs of Nòmada Pirineu Republik have begun to make a name for themselves in the area, which has led them to also work on commission. “CimsBeer asked us to design their La Pica beer, and there are several mountain refuges that have asked us to design exclusive t-shirts for them,” says Comella.

To professionalize the brand and scale beyond t-shirts, they have created the company Xisca Projects, which has also been joined by the designer Sara Ibáñez. The three entrepreneurs maintain their previous job while waiting for the accounts of their business project to allow them to make a living showing off the Pyrenees.
