One of the enemies that persecute the hospitality industry are working conditions. Many people have published images on social networks in which they complained about what the owners of the establishments offered them, and that has contributed to generating a “bad reputation” in the sector.

The Soy Camarero account on Twitter collects many anecdotes about different scenarios that hotel workers encounter. A classic are the working conditions, although it has rather little anecdote.

A user showed how the owner of an establishment refused to pay for all the hours made during the working day. The future worker asks about the global calculation of hours, since adding the breaks gave more than 40 hours a week, and wanted to know if the excess hours were rewarded with a holiday or with more money.

However, the owner is emphatic in stating that “no pay is given and no day off is given”, ending with a forceful “those are the conditions of this company”.

Automatically, the one who could be a future worker at the establishment gets out of the car and tells him that he is not interested: “Well, wow, what a few conditions! You say that in the interview that because of your face you have to work one more day. Thanks, I’m not interested!”

These types of conditions make it increasingly difficult to find waiters, since they have to take on very long working hours with little rest, significant physical fatigue and salaries that are not up to par.
