After dozens of statements from different personalities, some from the Government asking for his resignation, and after the intervention of different entities, FIFA has initiated actions this Thursday against Luis Rubiales for his attitude after the final of the Women’s Soccer World Cup won by Spain. .

The highest soccer body has announced the opening of a disciplinary file against the president of the Spanish Federation, who could have violated article 13 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code for, among other things, having kissed the player Jenni Hermoso in the delivery of medals or having touched their genitals in the box after the final whistle of the game.

The institution chaired by Gianni Infantino, present the leader together with Rubiales in the final, specifically emphasizes that the Spanish president could have breached “paragraphs 1 and 2” of the aforementioned article, where the sanctions are determined for “any person who violates the dignity or integrity of a country, a person or a group of people using derogatory, discriminatory or vexatious words or actions”.

The two paragraphs, which are focused on soccer players and fans, describe, above all, punishments that are more suited to sports competitions such as financial fines, loss of points or the closure of a stadium, but also leaves open the possibility of imposing “any other appropriate disciplinary action.”

“The FIFA Disciplinary Committee will only provide more information on these disciplinary procedures once it has issued a final decision on the matter,” added the statement from the football body, which “reiterates its unwavering commitment to the respect and integrity of all people and strongly condemns any conduct to the contrary.”
