The return of ‘Sex and the City’ excited many fans of the legendary American series. The adventures of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha occupied the televisions of millions of people, who fervently awaited their return on ‘HBO Max’.

However, in the first installment of ‘And Just Like That’ a fundamental character was missed: Samantha Jones. Kim Cattrall had not appeared due to her differences with Sarah Jessica Parker. In recent years, a crossover of statements made it clear that their relationship was far from good.

However, the surprise has jumped in the last chapter released by HBO Max this Thursday, August 24. Against all odds, Cattrall steps back into Samantha’s shoes… albeit briefly and from a distance. And it is that the British has not coincided with her co-stars or with the producer of the series, Michael Patrick King: her two conditions were met and she agreed to go out again in the series.

His appearance starts at the beginning of the chapter. Carrie walks into her apartment and receives a call from Samantha, who is in a chauffeur-driven car. “My flight is three hours late, Carrie. There’s absolutely no way I’ll be on time,” laments Jones. “Miranda and Charlotte have told me everything. I wanted to surprise you!”, she exclaims before the imminent farewell dinner from her apartment to move into a house.

Carrie states that she was totally surprised and Samantha goes on to explain why she was late. “This fucking fog has lifted, but the crew hasn’t lifted yet. Damn, I’m so pissed off,” she exclaims. Sarah Jessica Parker’s character is surprised to learn that her friend was coming to New York for just one night, but viewers won’t see their reunion, at least in this second season.

Samantha states that she wants to say a proper goodbye to the apartment and the two friends even joke: “Samantha, you look very refined”, to which she replies: “Who is Samantha? I am Annabelle Bronstein from Marseilles”.

In total, a cameo lasting just over a minute, but it has brought a smile to the lovers of this mythical New York series.

What remains up in the air is the future role of Kim Cattrall: the series has been renewed for a third season, so it remains to be seen if this brief appearance is just a small way to say goodbye to Sex and the City forever or well an introduction to a fixed role in the upcoming season.
