The so-called ‘chain of life’ has saved a 61-year-old man who collapsed this Monday in Plaza De la Villa after suffering cardiorespiratory arrest, Madrid Emergency sources have reported.

The events took place around 2:30 p.m. yesterday. A passerby, an eyewitness, began the CPR resuscitation maneuvers and then the Municipal Police joined in with a defibrillator and Samur-Civil Protection paramedics, who performed two shocks and advanced maneuvers.

The same sources have explained that through the ‘chain of life’ the patient regained his pulse and gradually regained consciousness. The man was transferred in stable condition and with a good prognosis to the Jiménez Díaz Foundation, where a cardiology team was waiting for him in the operating room.

“Once again, a quick and effective response by the members of the chain of life helps save a life,” Emergencies Madrid has highlighted on its social networks.
