Renfe takes a step forward and positions itself in the Rubiales case. The company has made public its support for the actions of the Higher Sports Council (CSD) with the start of the procedures to suspend the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Luis Rubiales, from his duties, after the abuse committed by Rubiales on the player Jenni Hermoso during the celebration after winning the Women’s World Soccer Championship.

Renfe sources have indicated that the company “resoundingly and forcefully supports the actions of the CSD”, noting that its legal services “are studying additional measures”, since the railway company maintains an advertising sponsorship with the Spanish soccer team in matches held in Spain.

Within the framework of the ‘El Tren del Deporte EspaƱol’ program, Renfe promotes the use of railways as a means of sustainable transport, among high-level athletes to participate in sports competitions in the national territory. In this context, it signed an agreement on March 23, 2022 to facilitate transportation by High Speed ??and Long Distance trains for the Spanish men’s and women’s soccer team within Spanish territory.

The Iberia airline, official sponsor of the RFEF, also spoke after Rubiales’ speech, insisting that it supports the “timely and pertinent” measures that must be taken to preserve “the rights and dignity of athletes.”

Rubiales announced this Friday his refusal to resign and his intention to continue in his position despite the “pressure”, denouncing that “a social murder is being carried out” against him and “trying to kill him”, at the same time that explained that the controversial kiss was “spontaneous, mutual and consensual”.

However, the Higher Sports Council (CSD) has raised this Friday to the Administrative Court of Sport (TAD) the complaints sent to the body against Rubiales for her behavior during the celebration of the Women’s World Cup and after the president has decided to continue in the post.
