The swimmer Felipe López and Mireia Canalda have ended their relationship after more than a decade together. A piece of news that was announced last weekend by the television program Socialité and that just a few hours ago they were in charge of confirming their protagonists to the magazine ¡Hola!.

The couple was one of the most stable and consolidated on the national scene, known for the fabulous “team” that they both formed. However, the absence of images together and having spent their vacations separately set off all the alarms that something was wrong between them.

The normally discreet couple broke their silence and confirmed the news, in addition to explaining the reasons that would have led to this unexpected separation for the aforementioned publication. The couple goes their separate ways after 11 years together and two children together -Inés and Bruno, aged 10 and 8 respectively-, who will continue to be their top priority.

A separation without conflicts and by mutual agreement, which occurs, as in many other couples, for a very simple reason: their love has changed.

According to Canalda, the love they profess “has changed shape”, becoming “a team” and ceasing “to be a couple a long time ago”. Now they name their situation and make the decision to face this new stage, “from calm and from love”: “Just finish a common project,” says the swimmer.

The two will continue to be that “team”, coordinating everything with respect and all the love they have for each other. “Deciding to break up a family, doing this to the children, is very complicated,” says Canalda, confirming that the little ones are also aware of this new family situation.

For the moment, both will remain in Catalonia, where they usually reside and have their work projects, to be close to the little ones. “There is fear, but at the same time there is that point of illusion, because when everything is destroyed, you also have the opportunity to create,” explains the model.

Canalda assures that from these eleven years with the swimmer he extracts “everything positive”, insisting that he is the best father he could have found for his children. He describes the athlete as a wonderful man, and would not change anything from his past.

At the moment, they have not started the procedures, but they will soon begin to shape this new situation, which does not seem to be going back, since none of them contemplates the possibility of reconciliation. “It would be a mistake to go back”, says the swimmer, who adds that “it would not make sense to go back. Life does not know where it is going to take you, but it is a thoughtful decision and the best for everyone”.
