From Sant Miquel de Castelló I have captured the fabulous ludo of fantastic spring colors that spreads across the crop carpets of the Vall d’en Bas, in the Garrotxa region.

As can be seen in these photographs in La Vanguardia Readers’ Photos, the combination of yellow, green, and brown fields dominates, with a wide range of chromatic nuances.

Most of them are rapeseed fields, a plant used to produce fodder, biodiesel or vegetable oil and whose popularity continues to increase in Catalonia largely because they shine a lot in spring.

The Vall d’en Bas is surrounded by mountain ranges and rugged ridges such as those of Cabrera dels Llancers, Freixaneda or El Puigsacalm, as well as meadows and forests of beech, oak and oak.

Crossed by a multitude of rivers and streams that pour their waters into the Fluvià River, it has one of the most fertile soils in all of Catalonia. It is not strange to be able to contemplate this spectacle of colored carpets this spring.
